Introduction and a Confession

After reading pages 8-22 of This Boy's Life I was very struck by Jacks attitude about confessing at church. In the beginning of the book I got a sense that Jack os a tough kid and is an "I'm not scared of anything" kind of person. However just before the confessional he is scared and could not think of what to confess. In the end he used Sister James's sins and said they were his. I had a mixed reaction about this. I was angry yet confused by why he would do that. It will be interesting to see if he has another confessional later in the book.
