I found it surprising that Toby still sleeps with a teddy bear. It also surprised me that Roy was kind of a good guy to Toby, and he started to cry when he couldn't find Toby's mom at work.
It probably got him through his childhood. It would be hard to go through what Toby went through and not have something to help him deal with it, and his mom isn't the best because she doesn't know how to deal with her problems. So I'm guessing that's why he has a teddy bear.
I thought that it was strange too, when I read that Toby still slept with a teddy bear.
